How To Speed Up Laptop/PC Windows 11

Many factors depend on increasing a laptop or computer’s speed, including whether you are using an HDD or SSD, how much RAM is installed in your system and a better processor is essential for the better performance of Windows 11 on your PC/Laptop. Most importantly, your laptop or computer must have an SSD installed, and the OS should be installed on the SSD. Your laptop or computer should have a minimum of 8 GB RAM

The speed of a laptop or computer also depends on its age; as time passes, our laptop or computer becomes slow. If your laptop or computer is ancient, if you have been using it for five years or more, then first replace the SSD or RAM of your system and give service to your system.

If your laptop or PC does not meet the minimum system requirements, you can still do the settings as per our advice. Your computer/laptop will become faster than before, but you will not get satisfactory results.

How To Speed Up Laptop

Today, our topic is how to increase the speed of your Laptop. I will tell you what settings I have applied on my Laptop that gave me the result, and my computer Laptop has become much faster. 1) Remove Antivirus From Your Laptop

When we buy a new laptop, an antivirus comes pre-installed with it or we install an antivirus on it. Antivirus protects our laptops from viruses and malware; also, antivirus software slows our Laptops. Suppose you uninstall the antivirus software on your computer. In that case, there is no problem because Windows has the leading antivirus software, Windows Defender, which is enough to protect your system from viruses.

2) Remove Unused Apps

Just like we buy a new phone, which comes with lots of bloatware, the OS installed in our laptop, Windows 11 or Windows 10, also comes with lots of bloatware we never use. These apps take up most of our laptop’s space and use laptop resources. You have to uninstall or debloat all the unused apps (bloatware).

1. Open Apps & Features from the settings on your laptop and uninstall all unused apps. To uninstall, Click on the three dots and click on uninstall.

3) Display Transparency Effects & Animation Effects

Transparency effects are often found in the taskbar, Start menu, or window backgrounds, where you can see a blurred view of whatever’s behind the transparent area. While these effects can give the user interface a sense of depth and layering, they might also use more system resources, which could impact performance on less powerful devices. So turn this feature off helps us to speed up our laptop

Animation effects are the visual movements you see when opening apps or switching pages, like sliding or fading. They make the experience smoother but can slow down older devices. If you use an old Laptop or Computer, make sure to disable animation effects if you really want to speed up your laptop or computer.

1. To optimize performance, turn off these two effects, which can slow down your Windows 11 PC. Search Visual Effects and turn off Transparency Effects and Animation Effects.

4) Disable Windows Permissions

Some permissions in Windows are enabled by default, which is not helpful; we have to disable them if you want to increase the performance of your laptop.

1. Open Privacy & Security settings, scroll down to Windows Permissions, and turn off all permissions, as shown in the image below.

2. Disable app permissions that you don’t use, such as location, notifications, contacts, calendar, phone calls, call history, email, Tasks, Messaging, Radios, and others.

5) Disable Startup Apps

Startup apps are programs that start in the background when you turn on your Laptop or Computer. They may be antivirus software, chat apps, or cloud storage services like OneDrive. Disabling these startup programs can help speed up your laptop’s performance and ensure that only the programs you want, like Windows Defender or Realtek Audio, are running in the background.

To stop apps from launching when you start your computer:

1. Press `Ctrl + Shift + Esc`. Now Task Manager will open, click “Startup” to see which apps will run at startup.

7) Delete Temporary Files

The operating system in our computer creates some files, which we call temporary files, and we can use disk cleanup to remove them. These files are basically used by our operating system to store short-term data, such as log files, error reports, cache, cookies, and so on. These temporary or junk files can be cleared manually and also automatically. Storage Sense is a feature by default on Windows 11 that is built to manage and free up your computer’s space automatically.

1. Search ‘Storage Settings’ and open it.

8) Delete Chrome Browser

If you have an ancient PC or laptop using Chrome browser, uninstall it because it uses more resources and slows down our system. You can use Mozilla Firefox instead of Chrome browser. If you still want to use the Chrome browser on your old system, remove unused extensions from your Chrome browser.

9) Ensure Your Windows Is Always Up-To-Date

Keeping Windows up-to-date is key to keeping your PC running smoothly. Updates boost speed, fix bugs, and strengthen security, protecting against malware. They also ensure your system works well with the latest software and hardware and manages resources better for a smoother experience.

10) Proper Shutdown (Laptop Only)

Fast Startup speeds up your computer’s boot time by saving some of its current state when you shut down. When you restart, it loads from this saved state, skipping specific startup steps. You can turn Fast Startup on or off in the Power Options settings to help speed up your Windows 11 PC. Disabling Fast Startup can help you start your operating system fresh and boost performance.

1. Open Control Panel and click on ‘Hardware and Sound’.
